low pressure storage

Challenging the status quo of high-compression and super-cooling
Gases are used all over the world, across all parts of the economy. When stored and transported, they need to be packed into the smallest space possible. Traditionally, this is done by high-compression at 200-300 bar, or by cryogenically cooling the gas until it becomes a liquid. Both methods are expensive, energy-intensive, and hazardous.
Our monolithic MOFs are able to densify gases by concentrating them on their internal surfaces, much like a sponge adsorbs liquids. This enables an equivalent amount of gas to be stored at significantly lower pressures. Adsorbed gas makes storage and transport cheaper, safer, and greener, in industries that are in desperate need of new solutions.
